When do the FAA Oral exam for an Airbus or 737 rating, does the examiner make up his own questions?

Or does he use pre-made questions from an FAA database?

The examiner will come up with their own questions. There are no question banks for type rides.

Thanks,

Generally how much nitty gritty detail do they expect you to know?

The volume of facts, numbers and obscure details can be extremely large given the complexity of these planes.

For example, in the 737, with the Recirc fans in Auto, when does the Recirc fan actually operate?
... Well, it all varies depending on if you're airborne or not and if you're using the left or right Fan and if the pack is in High flow or non-High flow.

Same story with the Packs and Temperature controls... go beneath the surface and it gets complex and maze like with all the possible ways things can go if certain controllers start to fail, etc.

It gets messy and hard to memorize, and that's just one little piece of the system.

An FAA inspector is supposed to use a POA or Plan Of Action.
A written guideline for the oral and practical test.
They can make their own or use them from the "office".
A seasoned inspector may have 3-5 that he alternates.
