Involved in FI Reval??

Could anyone spare the time to give me a break down/whats required of an FI revalidation please.

For FI Revalidation, its complete 2 out of 3 requirements:

1. Experience 50 hours instruction during 3 year validity inc 15 in the last 12 months

2. Attend a FI refresher Seminar within the validity period

3. Pass a proficiency test with a FIE within the last year of validity. (Mandatory for first reval and at least every 6 years)

I assume it is the FI Prof Check you are asking about

Give a Long Brief/Ground Lecture 30-40 minutes
Give a Pre Flight Brief for a nominated Exercise on which the flight trest will be based
The Examiner will nominate additional Exercises for you to Demonstrate, Teach, Patter etc
Debrief the Examiner as if he is a Student

Did mine a few weeks ago

1. long brief - air masses and frontology - he only gave it to me the day before which meant a late night preparing it

2. oral ... asked me a couple of question on each of the PPL subjects - I could refer to notes if needed

3. preflight brief - turning - only gave it to me on arrival - but that was ok and as you would expect in a real environment.
We then flew the exercise, I demonstrated and pattered through it - he practiced and I corrected - nothing sinister he made typical student mistakes - not looking out enough, pitch before roll ending up climbing, etc. when we came back I debriefed

4. during the flight I had to fly and patter an engine failure and a circuit

5. also had to demonstrate my flying competency with a few stalls and tight turns - no need for patter

that was it ... from beginning to end just over two hours - 1 in the air and the rest on the ground

I actually enjoyed - he gave me some great feedback !!
