News on the QF crew website states that Qantas have requested conciliation before a FWA tribunal. Hearing tomorrow 31 August.

The game has changed. Even if AIPA gets red-tail guarantee....it means nothing now as the red tail fleet is going to vanish over the next few years to a shell of it's former self.

I believe the ALAEA have already been there with this mob. You won't hear any feedback because its supposed to be confidential. That won't stop the other side parroting their agenda in the media, just like they did with the LAME EA conciliation.

It's another IR tactic to stall the negotiations for a few weeks/months longer whilst not really attempting anything resembling a compromise.

Now arbitration at FWA on the other hand

A process where Fair Work Australia determines a grievance or dispute by imposing a binding settlement. Fair Work Australia has powers of compulsory arbitration as well as offering voluntary arbitration.

Nothing is suprising from this lot who are no doubt paying a princely sum, (probably more then an EA settlement increase) to Ogilvy PR (owned by GD's mate Singleton) to create emotional ads then;

-gladly pay for said ads, full page, in every major paper to demonstrate their incompetence for fleet decisions (total cost ?)
-highlight just how incompetent with nice red graphs
-a paragraph blaming the staff underneath a picture 3 faceless 'union thugs'
-whilst proclaiming a new spirit with lifesavers and golden haired children.

emotional stuff, you won, I'm sold.

The update also pointed out that the current LWOP strategy for opportunities in other group entities was working well.

If that were the case, Jetstar would not need to be recruiting.

QF

Step 1: Announce to the market International losses.

Step 2: In case the general public missed the announcement, take out full page advertising reminding the public of the said losses.

Step 3: Go to FWA tribunal & announce the cost of QF pay & conditions would destroy Qantas & seek arbitration.

Yes but that might leave them with even less of an idea how to run a full service airline.

Ah, if that were possible.......

Nah these consultants don't know how to run an airline , just screw over the employees when its time for EBA " negotiations " . If only they employed someone who knew how to run and grow an airline ... If only .
