Trying to get an idea of how many different "Air Asia's" there really are out there.....

Air Asia Philippines, Air Asia Malaysia, Air Asia Thailand or some such....

Are they all under the Air Asia umbrella.

Thanks for the explanation.

AirAsia HQ stays in Malaysia (http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/7/26/business/9173393&sec=business)
The AirAsia statement said “the office in Jakarta is to be called AirAsia Asean, an entity set up under the aegis of AirAsia.AirAsia Indonesia and AirAsia Asean are therefore references to the same entity.

Does anyone know if it is possible to move from one subsidiary to another once hired?

From what I have heard, a foreign DEC cannot currently move within the system to any other countries subsidiary at this time, but who knows what will happen as the airline grows so much so fast. I don't know how it works, but I have heard that a foreign DEC could move to AirAsia X, but I don't know if you need to be on the 320 for your entire training bond before moving over and I don't know if it is by seniority or if you have to go to the right seat first. I hope this helps.

Any idea when? Air Asia is tempting but I don't want to leave Singapore, and it doesn't sound like commuting to KL is doable.

Air Asia for the time being are basing few aircrafts in SIn and still under AK with a 9M registration. Pilots will be hired by AK and be based in SIN flying on malaysian license.

Not sure if they did apply for a separate AOC.

Will they pay the SIN guys better? From the info I have gathered, SIN is way more expensive to live in and would be a challenge on the current pay.

From what I understand the pay is similar..

So how does one get based in Singapore? Are you hired into a base, do you get to pick, or is it seniority based like in the USA?

I believe they are hiring into Kuching only for the foreign DECs, but that you can transfer out within the first year. I don't know how you go about transferring.
