I am traveling with the family to Cebu next week. Anyone willing to make any recommendation on accommodation for a family of 4 within about a 2 hour transfer time of the airport. We've looked on the internet but are bewildered by the choice so seek a little Ppruner help. Thanks in advance.

Hofmeister,

Could you give some idea of your budget/expectations? There are several of the well known big chain hotels actually on Lapu Lapu island far enough away from the airport that you don't get problems with noise e.g. N.E tip - Shangri La. There are also less well known, but reasonable value/quality on the West side e.g. Hotel Cesario. The island is quite self-contained with eateries etc and linked by two bridges to the main Cebu City area (allow 20-30 mins transit time for traffic)

Around town is another kettle of fish....

Thanks for the reply.....looking in the bracket 100 - 200USD per night for the 4 of us and am willing to consider a bit further afield say via boat to Bohol. Thanks once again.:D

Definitely splurge on this one and stay at the Shangi La. Best family hotel in Cebu. Lots of activities for the kids, a private beach, 3 swimming pools and a bunch of other facilities and activities for the kids. Also, some very good restaurants and bars. You really don't need to leave the hotel. But if you do, they have shuttles into the city. Also, it's on the same island as the airport and takes about 20 minutes to get from there. You'll probably end up spending about $250 a night, but it come with a very good breakfast buffet. The Hilton use to have a hotel nearby, but not as kid friendly as the Shang. If you want a hotel in the city, the Marriot is very good and it's well located in the center of the city and next to a big mall.

If you're looking beyond something which is just "grand'n bland", try Plantation Bay on Mactan Island. Lots of low level spaced-out accommodation for a really relaxing holiday.

On a smaller scale, there's Maribago Bluewater Beach Resort, also on Mactan Island. In its grounds, "The Cove" is a really nice seafood restaurant overlooking the sea. Absolutely great for dinners.
