Today I had a call from an Immigration Officer at the airport in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There was a person coming to my school for a 10 week course from the U.K. They called to question us to see if we had the person enrolled at our school and whether he had a visa.

The person was not enrolled in my school and did not have a visa.

The Officer told me that the person was at his desk with a copy of my Ad from a flying magazine. I could not get any information on which course he wanted. I told the Officer that if the person were coming for 10 weeks, he would be able to complete a course without going over 18 hours a week of training. If he were coming for 3 to 4 week we would go over 18 hours a week, but with 10 weeks he would not.

I do not know if the person was allowed in the country or not. The Immigration Officer just ended the conversation by thanking me for my help and told me he "would take care of it from here".

I do hope all turns out well. If the person makes it to Naples, I will post a reply with the full story.

Happy Flying,

Capt. Richard J. Gentil, Pres.. .Naples Air Center, Inc.
