BBC stalwart John Sergeant's XH558 Vulcan flight is on BBC1 tonight at 1900 (if what I read is correct)....

But don't shoot me down if the Beeb have their press releases and scheduling wrong...

:ok::ok:

You got it right

John Tye is the crewman who he is talking to.

Martin Withers is the crewman talking to in relation to a long trip to the South Atlantic in the 1980's............

Ah, Withers. He only did short-haul if I remember.

A most enjoyable segment, only too brief.

Thank you for letting us know about this. Thank you BBC for putting this on TV.

My brother rang up and told me this was on so I only caught the tail-end of it. I saw Sargeant flying in a chase aircraft - did he actually get to fly in 588 earlier? Somehow doubt it. Nice air to air shots of 558 though.

Every time I see the inside of one of those things I'm so glad I ended up in the back of a Victor - far less claustrophobic!

He flew with XH558, but not in it. The Radio Times was implausibly misleading, claiming that "a grinning John Sergeant flies the Vulcan bomber." Even so, still a good piece.

Very disappointing. Having watched the trailers, I expected JS to be flying IN the grand old Lady, not buzzing around her.

Still, lovely to see, but no more of my money until Fleming goes. I gave to get her flying not pay his wages!

Nice to watch, but he should have got someone to sanity check his script
