I am a type rated a320 pilot and have to give the technical exam for indigo airlines for freshers...I got a call from the lady Varsha(from indigo), and she told me the exam is on 26th august. She told me they are asking about a320 systems, performance and even general navigation. Can someone please help me out n tell me what all do they ask in general navigation and performance. Because earlier they only asked about a320 systems, but now they are also asking about general navigation and performance and im really worried about what to study...some one plsss let me know..
thanks

just got it confirmed that 60 mark will be A320 tech and 40 marks will be from Met, HF and Regs....It has become a bit tougher now...
@naughtyjay, are these rated exams going to happen for all the coming year, as indigo has hired a lot of FO recently...

koolchaos3188

not anymore, the attempt on august 26th would be the last one for this year.

20th Aug 2011, 17:26
I gave the last attempt July 13th... It was 60 marks Tech... Rest 40 marks were human factors and general cpl stuff... Only 2 questions on met...

For all i remember there were jus 2-3 questions from met... i only remember that one had something to do with fog... and the other was about crosswind correction due to a certain weather condition...

Hi Guys ...So where would be a good place to do your A320 type rating and any ideas as to when would be the ideal time to do it . When do u think Indigo & Go Air are going o start hiring again .

God know's only when and if it comes then when.
Indigo is hiring & will hire about 200 odd pilot's mix with rated/non rated for immediate operations.....
Goair recently had a advert for 30 rated pilots and they took 5-8 rated pilots in start of this year.So they might come with few more....

Going for rating this time is big RISK when number of non rated pilot's getting job in Indigo is higher than rated ones....plus exam for rated 320 pilot's is hard than CAE's exam.

were there any questions from AERODYNAMICS in the paper? pls tell me

koolchaos3188
21st Aug 2011, 16:55
A320 related was just technical stuff. No aerodynamics or performance.
But the attempt on 26th will be technical, performance, cpl, HF...

27th Aug 2011, 02:19
hi guys i gave the test held by indigo held on 26th august, the paper had total 80 question, 40 were A320 technical( from smartcockpit), 10 were on performance mostly from FCOM 2 and rest 30 questions was a mixture of regs, met and human performance,
I dont know as to why they lay so much stress on the Human performance,

1. At this point which would be the best type rating to do.
2. What does the year ahead look for us Cpl Holders without Jobs.
3. How does someone crack these airline interview exams .
4.How many jobless Type rated pilots are there in the country

PEC

I'll try to have a go :

1. At this point which would be the best type rating to do.
None, without an LOI from an airline.

2.What does the year ahead look for us Cpl Holders without Jobs.
With almost all the airlines in the RED except IndiGo, you know the rest.

3.How does someone crack these airline interview exams .
Studying hard or else digging out the remotest of contacts.

4.How many jobless Type rated pilots are there in the country
Conservative estimates - B737NG - 600-700, A320 Family - 100-150, ATR 42/72 - 80-100

i don't think there is gone be any new exam for the type rated at IndiGo any time soon because there are already about 35- 40 type rated guys from CAe program still waiting to get a call for joining . and obviously the Cae guys will always get a preference over any other 0 hr type rated candidate.......but yes they might hire more guys with many hours on type from other airline, who will be more preferred than CAe .

I second that. No more "A320 Type-Rated" recruitment for the near future. The vacancy will be pulled off IndiGo's website soon. Kingfisher's poor show and the subsequent exodus of Line pilots from there, is to be blamed.

it's not 15 but 14 who were selected for CASS. As to how many finally end up getting the offer letter it is based on many factors like Indigo's need, candidate's performance etc. If past exams were any indication I would estimate about 5-6.

Contrary to popular belief the type rated process is tougher for IndiGo than the non type rated process, because the candidates also have the additional sim check after the interview.

I ment what If you fail your sim check,
What happens then?

flankerpilot
2nd Apr 2012, 18:25
First of all ....

You would have to do something ridiculous like go off the runway to fail. I mean how hard is it to do two circuits ?

second there were a few instances where people did manage to fail. They were told to get remedial training and redo the sim check.

livetokill22

Yeah. Hopefully they should comeup with their next type rated exam soon.
Did you manage to get through?

Hey Guys!!!

Everybody's silent on this, looks like nobody cares for the next exam anymore...or they already have an arrangement in place..;)

Anyways would someone be kind enough to share some new info about the TR exam, if there will be one??..your input will be much appreciated..:)

The candidates from the previous TR exam in February who cleared interviews are still waiting on sim checks. From what I heard there won't be any new type rated exam for a few months at least till the present massive backlog is cleared.

No you cannot because last time in Tr exam they asked us to fill out some form in which they asked have you ever failed cass or interview.

hey guys, can someone please tell me
1:The topics to study and where to study from, for the type-rated exam.
I heard it was 60 marks for 320 systems(all from fcom1) and the rest a combination of HF and cpl stuff.

2.When is the next type-rated exam is expected?

Thanks

stiffy_pro
11th May 2012, 15:53
1.Fcom 1: A lot of questions from Fcom 1, they won't ask you straight forward questions but all the twisted ones, so heavy on systems, if you wanna score good. (Many from powerplant then hydraulics, flight controls and rest were all balanced).
2. FCTM: Some 2,3 questions were there from FCTM
3. General Performance: Some 7,8 questions on ASDA etc and V speeds
4. A320 Performance: Around 5,6 questions on flex temp, flex max and performance degradation.
5. Human Performance: A lot of questions, I prefer reading all the sample papers from Oxford rather than going for a full theory.
6. Met: Very few questions from Met.
7. Reg: Around 6 to 7 questions on lights from ground and air, cabin crew requirement, time for fever and etc.

*Note:
1. Don't rely completely on smart cockpit, it won't do any good until and unless you study from Fcom1 and test yourself on smart cockpit (there are some wrong answers in smart cockpit).
2. While reading all the Fcom's make sure you read the "*Note" part properly.

Good Luck and Study Hard :ok:

That doesn't necessarily mean that one can't. But yeah, you could be right. And I'm still looking for an answer.

During the Last TR exam, when filling out the form they asked the people who had appeared in cass/interview before to leave.

This question concerns pay for DEC:

I received a package about Indigo from one of the agencies. The pay added up to 13500 USD but your bring home after taxes was 9017USD.

That seems like quite a high tax rate, and I'm sure as a expat you don't get any free services from India for paying all that tax

Any current DEC's that could shed some light on this.Otherwise the package looked pretty good

DesiPilot
13th May 2012, 03:01
Intruder,

Tax rate in India is 33.3% and what you get for it is a tax certificate. As a expat in India your tax bracket is higher (with IRS) and you can furnish tax certificate to IRS and you will not pay any taxes in the US. Yes, it doesn't make sense for an expat to come to India for such low money when you can move to China and make twice the money.

Intruder One
13th May 2012, 04:19
Thanks for the info..yes that is much higher than the IRS.I agree looking elsewhere would probably be a good idea.

@PT6

What happens to those who wrote the type rated exam in Feb and the non-type rated exam in April ?

PT6A
18th May 2012, 15:34
Nothing IGO will not be taking anyone on... They have an over supply of pilots.

In the future when they need people again someone will make a decision if to look at the candidates that applied in the past or to start again.

I would not be surprised if the deal with CTC changes, so that if you are selected you are not offered a contract of employment. But some other deal so the airline is not committed to you.

livetokill22
19th May 2012, 02:08
the type rated exam in Feb - the guys are almost in with only a sim check left

the non-type rated exam in April - they are done with only their written exam

I don't think that they will drop these 2 batches??

They definitely have stopped further recruitment for the near future.

PT6A
19th May 2012, 02:17
The batches are cancelled.... They don't want anymore pilots on the books at this present time, as stated above they have an excess... An excess is not what you want to carry into uncertain times.

Hello every1,

Every 1 in this post seems to have a good knowledge about each and everything regarding what to do after we get ourselves Type rated on A320.

I would also like to mention here that I did my TR from CAE, Madrid without the LOI from Indigo and now will be applying for any airline which has recruitments up its sleeves.

But its been about 2 months, can anyone please let me know where can I get refresher course for A320 anywhere in India. I already know of 1 "[email protected]".

Please help me out.

YOUR KINDNESS WILL BE DEEPLY APPRECIATED.n:):):)

Thanks,

I mean A320 Specific classes for those who are already Type Rated.
Indigo conducts these exams from time to time and they ask A320 specific questions apart from Regulations and met.

Please any1, whoever has some info, be kind enough to share..:\:):}

Transponder 7777- Ok, now i get you. I am also trying to do some research to find out about classes to prepare one for the indigo type-rated exam. Until I know for sure, im doing what was told to me from several people (fcom1 systems, Human factors, regs and met)...Im also using smart cockpit for some question banks.

My sim partner gave me the number of a captain in Indigo (capt Gill from bangalore) who takes classes. Although, his classes are not specific to indigo type-rated exam. He holds the classes for anyone (non type-rated and type-rated pilots appearing for any airline)..From what he has told me, he also prepares you for the interview, cass etc...If you get any other info, please let me know. Cheers

Go through previous pages you will come to know.

For A320 technical do Fcom 1 well and smartcockpit nothing will be asked out of this.

For Go air do basic cpl stuff bcoz they ask 60-70% cpl n rest a320. Do study more of IR flying stuff in cpl like moca mora instrument app holding pattern n rest a bit of regs met n radio aids.

With reference to the inner display on the Capt side I assume u mean the ND..
And yes it is possible to display the ND on the PFD by using the PFD/ND transfer switch.

Hope it helps..!!

Avionics ventilation clause is applicable to classic A320-231 and few A319-112.
NA to the newer A320-214/232 and A321
