Hello,

In a few weeks I will have to do an assessment on the 737NG sim. One part is doing a N-1 Approach followed by a single engine circling followed by a single engine go-around.

Could someone please provide me with some tips and tricks on how to do this the best way?

Thank you,

PH-MVK

just follow the sop's and you should be alright. don't forget the rudder ;)

Know your pitch power settings.
These should help.
Straight and level, 210 it's, 6 degrees pitch 60% n1
Flap 1 and flap 5 180kts it's the same
Flap 15, gear down, 5 degrees, 65% n1,
Flap 30 2.5 degrees, 58% n1,

For one engine add 13-15% to each
These are rule of thumb, they are not set in stone and you may need ro refine them.

Single engine app followed by g/a should not be a major problem, remember as you put the thrust on put your rudder in.
Good luck

haha al right then. as ford cortina says, know pitch/power settings. actually, because it varies with weight and CG, I would rather say: keep flying attitude and keep a quick scan.

especially with high gross weight, hot/humid conditions a good positive climb rate may be difficult to maintain. remember to retract gear ASAP and go to flaps 15 (if not done already during app). when already @ f15, sops dictate to go to f1 immediately which significantly helps to achieve climb gradient. otherwise it's flap retraction at 1000' AGL. at this point accelerate as quick as you can without losing altitude.

If for instance you're at EHAM, the missed app proc shouldn't be to difficult. otherwise, don't hesitate to ask a straight ahead climb. that really lowers the work load.

hope this helps, good luck with your assessment
