As a rule, I don't trust anyone who tells me "come with us, you will upgrade in no time" because I suspect that they need FOs, rather than captains.

If an airline is truly in need of experienced FOs to be quickly upgraded, I think that the airline is not appealing to captains (for a number of reasons) and/or they are losing captains, and their FOs are low experienced in general.

I don't know what is the situation there? but I what I want to know is

Are they really upgrading?

I heard in the grapevine that they could be, but I need more input

thanks

They are upgrading, at a rate of 2 FO's a month (DEC get the training priority). Will probably be doing so for some time, but new joiners generally need 2 years with the company before being eligible.

Hope that helps.

I'm aware of two chaps who joined like 1.5 years ago, but still are waiting for the upgrade.
Both with plenty of experience, came rated on A320.

You can not generalize. When you're ready, you get your upgrade.

Normally, they hire FOs with a lot of experience and - not uncommon - very experienced Captains from the regional and turboprop side. If you are not A320 rated, you cannot get a direct captain entry. So after a few months, they upgrade you.

I have well over 3000 hours on the 320.

Would I have to be 2 years waiting?
