Hi, hope to be in the right forum. If not, please redirect me.
I just saw the movie Invictus and couldn't believe the flypast over the stadium actually happened. But it did. In the movie, it seems like President Mandela secret service tail didn't know about the flypast. Since, as I found out, it was a commercial initiative to advertise SAA, that I find even harder to believe. Does anyone remember anything about this episode?
Thanks.

That's nothing!. You should have seen the SAA 747-400 display at Duxford Airshow a few years ago!!. The whole display within the airfield boundary, except for his near touch-and-go. Fabulous!. Goodness knows what people on the M.11 thought!!

I just found this video and I'm quite impressed. Thanks for the hint!

You're right JEM, that display at Duxford was really something. I do some part-time work there and was lucky enough to be in on the day of the rehearsal. It certainly emptied the offices and all the resident pilots were very impressed. So much so that an Ozzie ex 747 captain chum of mine just couldn't work out how it was done and tried to persuade his company to let him try it in the sim but they didn't bite. I subsequently saw Air NZ do a similar routine at an Ardmore airshow in a 747 named "Frodo" after a character in a film which had just been made there.
