Shots at Dublin today

Dear all,

I was down at Dublin today and decided to call by the Airport. Have a looksie see if anything was happening.

Well I seen the fire and rescue services at the end of one of the runways i think 28. firing what looked to be gun shots into the air. a yellow smoke came out mid air.

Im assuming these are for bird control but has anyone any proper information regarding it.

Often see it happening at Cork especially this time of year, when the grass perimeter is being cut, the birds tend to congrigate in large numbers while feeding. Rescue jeep comes out and fires off a few flares to scare them.
