Hi, I'm flying with Spanair from SOU-PMI in a couple of days (Charter flight on behalf of Thomson) and am wondering what they are like as far as space and service are concerned. I know the flight will be on an A320 with 180 very closely spaced seats (And some reviews i've read make it seem like there is no legroom at all!) but was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with them, and possible knowledge of the best seats to get and onboard service etc? :)

I'm 6'2" and my knees were were squeezed up against the seat in front. It's tight. There was no free in-flight catering - though I can't tell you if they handle things differently on a charter flight.

Have not flown them since 2001, I used to fly with them to Malabo.

One flight I had my hand baggage confiscated at the gate (I had two pieces which was allowed as I was travelling BC) and had my bags returned to me 3 months later - EMPTY.

My next trip - also in BC, the Captain came out of the cockpit - lit up a (on a non smoking flight), when I complained I was told to shut up.

At that time I considered Spanair to be exceedingly unprofessional and have refused to fly them since. Have no idea whether they have changed nor do I want to find out. Service was nothing to write home about either.

I rode with Spanair in 2006 and 2007 and never had any problems. One flight, I showed up at the last minute and there must have been no seats left in economy because I got put in business class. Well, I'm not sure if they call it business class, but I was served a free breakfast with a free newspaper and those in the back didn't get the same amenities.

Interestingly although its a charter flight and Spanair normally have no in-flight service we had an unusual booklet which acts as our tickets through yesterday and it confirms that meals are complimentry. Also you get a 20kg luggage allowance per person which means we are getting more 'frills' than Thomson Airways normally offer as well as Spanair economy. Should help me take my mind off of all of the legroom woes!! Thank you for all the advice/experiences too :ok:
