It quite interesting to see airlines of the like of Jetstar, Emirates, Cathy Pacific and Virgin Australia are currently recruiting pilots. In saying so, some have already been given start dates!
I wonder if in the coming 6 months to 1 years time, there will be a shortage of experienced pilots Australia, which in turn will give these pilots plot of pull in negotiating the conditions they choose to work for. It is interesting times ahead, with operators in the west recruiting like mad, Qantas pilots seeking job security, Rex pilots negotiating a WAY better deal through their EBA, Tiger Airways pilots on an unknown forced working break (which I'm sure are out looking for alternative employment, both in Australia and overseas), Jetstar looking for 150 new pilots for Asian bases, Alliance placing new F100 on the line in the coming months and not to mention Network Aviation's fleet growths!
Need to take a breath!
Are there alot of 'airline ready' candidates out there, or already airline pilots looking for a better deal that are going to take to leap across? If so, you could be in for a great time for 'choosing' the right operator for you.
Airlines bewarned... what do you think?
