Since I started a thead about heat in the Mid-West and con-pilot came in with some good info, this article caught my attention.

The star-spangled runner: The Oklahoma cauldron - Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/activityandadventure/8666099/The-star-spangled-runner-The-Oklahoma-cauldron.html)

Since he's in your neck of the woods, con, don't you think it would be good to get out there and run along with him for a while :E ? Give him some tips on staying cool ?

That apart, anyone sorry they missed the dead-line for entry ?

There was a news story on a couple of local TV stations about this guy last week. They were positive in the stories, but, all of us were thinking in the back of our minds, that was;

WHAT ON EARTH WERE YOU THINKING DOING THIS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SUMMER????? :eek:

It is always hot here in the summer, this summer does happen to hotter than normal, but not record breaking so far.

I heard from a very reliable source, that Mary Fallin, our Governor, issued orders to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and sent requests to all the County Sheriffs along his route to keep a watch out for him. She said something along the lines of; 'For God's sake, don't let him die from a heat stroke, we'll never hear the end of it.'

Last I heard he's still heading west and if he thinks it was hot here, just wait until he gets to the Texas Panhandle. :p:

I was down in Dallas for a week or so one Summer, that kind of heat. My pal and I were going to play a round of golf. He asked "Do you want to walk or ride?"

I suggested that if we walked, by the third hole it would be hit the ball, drag 11Fan, hit the ball, drag 11Fan.... Can't hang with that kind of heat, thank you very much.

Oddly enough, this is the mildest Summer I can remember in Southern California. Middle of the day and it's only 71F.

Someone has been walking from South Dakota to Connecticut, (1500 miles), and he was doing it in a fur coat.

Unfortunately he got run over.

That was one realistic looking fur coat. Looked exactly like a mountain lion to me. I guess we can write that death off on sexual frustration.

Poor guy.

We haven't even started Summer yet. We've had only two days with any worthwhile sun since Christmas Record low temperatures for June and probably July so far.

Global warming, Bah!
