Where is everybody? This section of PPRuNe used to be alive and vital, with dozens of new postings every day.

What has happened?

I think that people do sometimes post but some get deleted if they are about the BA industrial situation.

Even though things have calmed down, there is a long way to go before trust can be restored between all parties.

Some nasty posts carry on on another cabin crew forum and, in fact, it is full of some pretty nasty posters on both sides and I have a feeling that pprune want to avoid that kind of nastiness!

Which is good.

That much is true, I will grant you. The moderators have been unusually heavy-handed, in my opinion, but that is their privilege. No one ever said that this board is a democracy!

However, judging from the responses so far to my original OP, one might think that the Cabin Crew section of PPRuNe has been (and still is) nourished almost exclusively by the BA industrial dispute. Do we have nothing more to talk about in our lives than that?

Taking things a stage further, can we expect to see this part of PPRuNe wither and die for an apparent lack of subject matter for debate?

On page one alone there are seven closed threads. They are not all about BA industrial disputes. One was closed after just two replies apparently because the OP used text speak. In fact only one word of his question was textspeak, he used ur instead of your.

Another poster was asking for advice on an error message on the BA site which advised him to try later due to maintenance. It was clear from his post that this had happened repeatedly yet the thread was closed with the terse comment " do what the message suggests and try later"

From this I guess there is a possibilty of a wither and die scenario.

The various thread closures and deletions were done to protect the integrity of the forum. You have no idea of the reasons behind the various mod actions, since you do not have visibility of all, and in some cases, any, of the facts. You have no visibility of deleted posts, and therefore no visibility of the crap that our deletions have spared you the trouble of reading.

It is a mistake to form an opinion when you have little understanding of the situation or the facts.

I have little doubt that traffic will return - we are now in the Summer peak season in Europe and many people have other thing on their mind (work, sleep etc.). A certain number of posters were frightened off (so to speak) by the BA threads which dominated the forum for so long, and included so many opinions from those who do not fly as CC for a living.

Whatever happens to this forum in the future, I would be greatful if you two Yodas could spare us all the dubious benefits of your wisdom and advice which is both boring and irritating.

Thank you for taking the time to answer the opinions that you found to be so boring and irritating. It's a shame you had to do it in such an arrogant and rude manner that hardly adds to the quality of the forum you moderate.

I can't find Yoda in the dictionary but I doubt if it's complimentary.

Have a nice day.

For myself, I made absolutely no reference in my OP to the BA farrago. All I did was to have the temerity to ask a perfectly valid question.

Nevertheless, The Oracle has spoken - albeit rather brusquely.

Perhaps - just perhaps - that is a reason for the current dearth of cabin crew contributions?

I'm sure "normal traffic will resume".

Possibly people get put off by highly polarised industrial threads.

Have a look at D&G reporting points. Many posters aren't posting there atm due to most of the threads being very bitter "Anti-QF managment" threads. Other threads somehow get hijacked into an anti-Qantas theme.

With so much negativity, after a while people at home look out their window (as I'm doing now) and think: It's a wonderful day outside, I'm going to walk my dogs and have a great day. :)

Suggest you do similar

Cheers,

The mods here definitely are pushed to their limits at times.
A couple of years ago it was the Qantas Cabin crew threads that they lost patience with.
Unfortunately that's the way it is and I'm sure they are enjoying some sort of respite as a consequence of their moderating styles.
It could also have something to do with access to this forum being withdrawn for the most prolific, albeit troublesome, posters.:E
