Hi,

I am a GA pilot, and was thinking of flying into Cardiff, just wondering if anybody could tell me the prices for a landing fee for a PA32, and what the airfield is like as a whole towards GA?

I've heard that they are very friendly, possibly the friendliest towards GA for their size. As for landing fees, maybe call them to get it from the horse's mouth. Try them on 01446 711111.

I had to throw a Piper Arrow down the ILS into Cardiff a couple of years ago on a divert in atrocious weather.

Think the handling agent was 'Signature'

Landing fee and overnight parking was, if I remember correctly, in the region of £150

I just spent a night there. Prices were about par fpr the UK, we used Signature. They were friendly and efficient.

Unless something major has changed it's worth giving Aeros at Cardiff a call to see if you can park on their apron and self handle - usually cuts the fees down rather a lot. I stopped taking students there a couple of years ago when the previous aero club closed and the landing fee went from £25 or so to over £60 for a VFR single.

Self handled through Aeros a couple of Sundays ago. Reasonable prices for the landing and what looked and smelled like good nosh in the bar upstairs.

Went into Cardiff IFR at the beginning of the month with a vectored ILS in a PA34 Seneca 2 (sub 2 Tonnes). Landing fee £30.50; handling (Signature 01446 712637) came in at £63.00. Airport levy was £3.15 and the government's cut added another £19.33.

I don't think Aeros can do handling nowadays.

Hope that helps.

Aeros can handle any aircraft up to 2000Kg from UK, Ireland, IOM and Chanel islands. They also supply fuel at £1.96 a litre avgas and can arrange jetA1. Landing charges are in the region of £25 for a Pa28 and £30 for a PA34. Aeros are available 0830 to 1730 on 01446 710000 but an early arrival or later maybe possible to arrange.
Signature handle all weights 24 hours a day, including Bono's B767 form America recently!!. They charge a fee for the handling and are a must for arrivals outside the UK -Special Branch etc.

Both are located in the same building and you need to book beforehand.
