Hi all,

Have recently been offered a job that would require me to go off shore and am looking for some advice.

Firstly what sort of insurance does a pilot need to cover the healthcare normally provided by the state? There is a minimum cover but cant get a straight answer on what that entails.

Secondly anyone got advice on companies to get quotes from? I hear Bupa is the best but am sure there must be aviation specific brokers that people know about. Tips would be great :-) Am sure a list of decent aviation brokers would be well appreciated by others too.

I did do a search but not a lot came up.

Many thanks in advance for your help

Can't help with suitable companies, but a Tip

Many moons ago I (as an oilworker) went to work offshore in the Gulf, due to travelling non sched as a passenger my insurance company introduced a loading (50%) on my life cover!!!

When I quit offshore and returned to normal life, I advised them and requested they lift the loading - Yes they said AFTER 4 yrs - It was in the small print!!!

I cancelled the policy and told ALL insurance companies to take a hike

Then being a good bit older, I needed insurance and had great difficulty in getting suitable terms due age etc

READ the small print and remember they'll get you whichever way!!!
