If you have a license, check with the issuing authority. For example, if you have an Indian license, then you must use one of the DGCA-approved tests/test centers.

If you aren't licensed, then be aware that there is no such thing as an ICAO-approved test. You'll be tested by whatever means an issuing state or even converting state deems acceptable.

Hi

I suggest you start by reading the rules and regulations pertaining to the test here

http://www.dgca.nic.in/cars/D7G-G3.pdf

"The Certificate of English Language Proficiency issued by other organizations
recognized by ICAO or by member contracting States of ICAO, shall also be
accepted"

So does this means in reality that the DGCA is accepting the ICAO level 6 issued by equivalent authority in a different country?

Yes Dushrox. The DGCA accepts ICAO Level 6 English Proficiency Certificates. Mine was!

@smurf

Hey do you know or can you recommend any particular flight schools in Canada that does this test ?

I will be going to the U.S for recency and was thinking of going to Canada to get my ELP rating since the FAA does not issue ELP specific rating ( just says english proficient which means level 4 or above )

Is it possible to do the test over the phone ? ( I have seen some ads advertising this )
And how much does it cost ?

For Indian CPL's pilots.

After joining Airlines or Charter company,ie, getting a job will take care of this new mess created by DGCA.Your employer will fund it and get it done without any mess.So no need to get red&blue thinking to clear ICAO-4/5/6 privately.:=
