View Full Version : Airport Analysis other than AGA

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen

In order to issue RTOW charts for Airbus aircrafts using PEP you need to have airport analysis like Runway length, obstacles,etc.. and input them to PEP

we used to deal with SITA to obtain this service known as AGA , since we have moved to another system could somebody advise what are the sources you obtain this information from ??

we are currently using jetplan as our flight planning system

Why did you move away from SITA?

one of our concerns about SITA was costs in addition to we were looking for a more up to date system with a GUI interface instead of the ancient SITATEX interface !

If I may ask which system are you using at your airline and how many is your fleet ? I think from your previous posts you work in the middle east (feel free to PM)

The long hand way is to obtstacle data from ICAO type A charts for each runway, usually found in the country's AIP, this however takes time and specialist knowledge, SITA and other performance data providers do the hard bit for you which is much easier as a data input to your system.

You can get a computer geek to write a script to strip away the non-pertinent data from the AGA message and format it as you like. But remember that SITA places all legal responsibility on the airline for ensuring accuracy of the data, as do Boeing/Airbus with the software you are using, so there is nothing better than looking over the data yourself and ensuring that you are happy with the inputs and results.

I would be surprised if you found Jeppesen to be cheaper.....

We use SITA/AODB/AIP/Airport site reviews to support about 140 aircraft..... :)

Since we are operating only 1 Aircraft (A300B4 - Freighter) we find Jeppesen to be cheaper as it provides free unlimited WX, Fligthplans,etc... while SITA would charge you for using some keywords like RRG or SWX etc... so that would make your charges vary from one month to another but with Jeppesen's jetplan you pay a fixed fee for unlimited services the automated route optimization is for free for unlimited number of requests as well as the WX charts all in one place !

I see that the Jetplan is ever more user friendly ! and their customer support is very helpful apart from some times if you need to get something fixed you have to refer to your account manager and when it's a week end you have to wait till Monday that's the only negative I see for their customer support

We used jetplan in my old airline where we operated 2 A320s on charter basis and most of the problems we had was due to the guys not trained well to use it ! but if you got to read the manual and know how to get things done the correct way you would find it very nice and easy system !

also Using jetplanner software is a + where my old airline never even cared to check how it works :eek:
