During the week (I think on wed), EDI shut and evacuated the terminal due to a breach in the security fence.

Some airports don't even have a security fence btw!

I had visions of a man size slit being cut to allow johnny terrorist to run amok on the airfield (although I must confess that I also thought it likely to be a typical EDI over-reaction and that the 'ole had probably been there for months, unnoticed).

Anyway, I now learn that the 'breach' was actually only big enough to allow a telephoto lens, of the type used by Reginald S. Potter, to poke through. ie about 3 1/2" in diameter.

As the holes in the fence are already 2" square, the 'breach' in question wasn't really much of a breach. More like minor vandalism.

They seem to having a bit of a 'run' of these things at EDI.

There was the 'Onur Air' terminal evacuation last week and the Police attending the 'mobile chucking' Airbus.

Whatever next?
