Greetings,
Im interested in doing an intial type rating for the 737-300 and -400.

I have a CPL from Australia, ICAO equivelent.

Wondering if theres any kind blokes out here with quality information on where to do it on cheap and with good instruction, in the USA.

Any info would be great guys. It would help me heaps in my ongoing research and making a quantifiable decision.

Cheers mate!

In the US there is only type rating covering all the 737 models. Most schools use a 200 sim as it is cheaper. I know Higher Power in Fort Worth, Texas was doing the type in a 200 and they had a "glass transition" class for a few more days for foreign students who needed specific training in a 300 or 800 sim. None of the glass training shows up on the FAA certificate.

There is a lot of demand for 737 types in the US as Southwest Airlines looks kindly on applicants that already have the type. Runs about 6000 to 8000 dollars, again for the type in a 200 sim. If you wanted to do in a glass sim it will run you more.

Higher Power Aviation also has a B737-300 simulator in their DFW facility also available for your course.
