View Full Version : The difference between the C-130E & C-130H

Could anyone explain the differences between the two models. I am particularly thinking about the ones that are/were operated by the Royal Saudi Air Force and Royal Canadian Air Forces.

Similar to the E model, the C-130H has updated T56-A-T5 turboprops, a redesigned outer wing, updated avionics, and other minor improvements. The C-130E/H carries 6,700 gallons of fuel in six integral wing tanks. Under each wing of the C-130E/H is an external pylon fuel tank with a capacity of 1,300 gallons. A pressure refueling point is in the aft side wheel well fairing for ground refueling.

Got that and understood, but am I right in thinking outwardly there is physically no difference?

One external recognition feature (though there may be exceptions to this rule) is the presence or otherwise of the air intake in the right undercarriage sponson and another one behind and below the cockpit on the starboard side. See here to compare:
