I recently went to Vienna and then received a letter from these Guy's for my Austrian Tax Number to pay the Pax tax for the one passenger? For sure we are not going to engage a fiscal representative for one flight a year.

Subject matter of the Air Transport Levy is the departure of any passenger from a domestic airport using a motorised aircraft.
There is no distinction between private or business aircraft owners therefore any passenger that departs from an international airport in austria is subject to the levy. The Air Transport Levy also applies to a private operator. An aircraft owner who has neither an ordinary residence nor a registered office or permanent establishment within Austria has to engage a fiscal represantative upon registration with the competent tax office. The Air Transport Levy can not be paid to the airport vienna. You will receive a tax number after you submitted your registration to the competent tax office. However a new version of the Air Transport Levy Act will go trough the legislativ process in the upcoming weeks. If the amended version of the Act comes into force all airplanes lighter than 2 tons will be exempt from paying the Levy, registration, engaging a fiscal representative, maintaining and submitting of electronic records. Also if an aircraft owner only performs flights exclusively with passengers excluded from the Air Transport Levy this amended version of the Act applies.
You can find the application form on our webpage https://www.bmf.gv.at/ but it's only available in german. Please go to the menu on the right "Tools" then choose "Formulare" then "Zur Formulardatenbank" then search for "Flug 9". The competent tax office is the "Finanzamt für Gebühren, Verkehrsteuern und Glücksspiel" in vienna. Has any non Austrian had any experience if this ?

And the application form is only in German - so we need a translator !!
I guess back to Bratislva !!

Hi Jo,

if You need help with the tax contact me, I can give You translated forms as well as aid for the taxing procedure.

The tax shouldn't exist in the first place but it should not prevent You from going to Austria.
