Just came back from interview and was wondering if the accommodations provided to Captains are suitable enough to be called a "villa". I mean when I think of a villa I'm picturing 20 year old belly dancers in I dream of Jeannie outfits feeding me grapes and fanning my ass as I sit on my Sultan's pillow smoking the Hookah. *Gentlemen is it like this over there ?

Before I invest £1000 taking my wife with me to interview I am keen to know what accommodation is provided for F/O's? All I have discovered is the 543 GHD 4-5 storie appartment blocks which are arranged closely together. Is this what I can expect or is there other accommodation? www.ghd.com/global/projects/qatar-airways-crew-accom/ (http://www.ghd.com/global/projects/qatar-airways-crew-accom/)

"Before I invest £1000 taking my wife with me to interview"

I don't get it. Cant they get you a free ticket for your wife to come? They are looking for pilots I take it, or are they trying to scare them off?

That's the first I've seen of those GHD buildings, they are certainly not complete as I don't know anybody who lives in them.

F/O's will either be put in Holiday Villas or Ain Khalid Gate.FO's are only entitled to an apartment (2 or 3 bed) , no matter the size of your family. Captains only get villas.

A quick search on google images will give you an idea. There is an accommodation allowance of 10,000QR. Some FO's use it, but there is now a waiting list to get out of the accommodation, guys have been waiting since the beginning of the year.

Thanks for the info about Holiday Villas and Ain Khalid Gate. Are they spacious enough or are they so small that you get cabin fever? Do they have a proper kitchen as opposed to kitchenette and a bath as opposed to simply a shower? i.e. can I make a proper home for my young family in one of the Ain Khalid Gate appartments or will it feel like I have never really settled?

''I sit on my Sultan's pillow smoking the Hookah.''

In that part of the world, it's more likely to be referred to as a Shisha. Or was the word hookah what you really meant, and the picture is of a hookah smoking a shisha?

The apartments (AK or HV) are all a reasonable size. If you want to make a life here and feel settle you can do that with the company accommodation. Or you can put your name on the waiting list and move into your own place eventually.

like everything, it's what you make of it......
