HELP NEEDED I've just failed instruments for the second time 73% and 74% and don't seem to be making any headway with the Bristol GS notes. Lots of questions on tachos not covered much in BGS notes. Would anyone whose passed instruments from a differernt school be willing to sell / borrow any instruments notes.

I feel I need a different perspective on things to get me over the line with this. Just think how much your karma will be aided by assisting me.

Also has anyone got a copy of the book by Pallett aircraft instruments and intergrated systems that they are finished with ???

e:mail me at [email protected]

eternal gratitude awaits !!!

All my notes are pre JAA and so are probably not much use. But both Alex and Baz are great guys, very knowledgeable and always willing to help, I would give them a call.

Good luck <img src="cool.gif" border="0">

Macky,

You could always try the Jeppesen instrument ATPL manual- from Transair for around £50. As I understand they are very good with loads of colour diagrams. Also they are identical (as far as I know) to the course notes provided by OATS.

How many tacho questions are coming up in the exams? Could you possibly give some examples- it would help me.

Thanks,

ST.

Macky,

I'm a bit surprised to hear that tachos are still a problem. This situation arose about 8 months ago when the examiners suddenly increased the depth of questioning in this subject. I throught that all of the FTOs had upgraded their notes accordingly. There was certainly a post indicating that Bristol had done so. Is it perhaps the case that the examiners have done it again.

If you can remember the questions, I will attempt to give you the correct answers.

Firstly thanks to Phil and Mike who have contacted me with offers of help much appreciated but keep them coming

The only Powerplant / Tacho question I can remember was

What pressure sensor is used in a LP output of jet fuel pump ( not word perfect but I think you will get the drift ) . .A) Bellows B) Bourdon tube C)Aneroid capsule D) Stack

A) I think is the answer

Sorry I can't remember more but as they didn't make much sense at the time I can't recall any others

I think there was about 10 questions in all in the Jan exams ( far to many for my liking )

Macky,

I would honestly recommend that you get the Jeppesen JAR ATPL / OATS manually from one of the pilot suppliers and read it thoroughly.

I found it extremely useful, and then did a brush up course with OATS and got all their feedback. Needless to say it was spot on and I got it first time.

I do think that my grounding by our Instruments instructor when I was at SFT (Steve Williams) was excellent. Unfortunately they're not around anymore, so (not trying to plug them, I have nothing to do with them, but..) get yourself off to oats, it worked for me!

Macky. .Get yourself to OATS mate. They have a first class instruments package and feedback that is spot on, I would'nt have passed without it. I belive you can buy thier publications in the Pooleys shop on location and I am sure one of the instuctors would hand over a copy of thier latest feed back.. .Good luck. . .ML
