Coinsidence or not? Happen to witness another Excel land at Farnborough this evening with an engine out. Thankfully all turned out well but after seeing a Netjets Excel also landing with an engine inop at Farnborough a couple of months back I am pretty glad I am not flying that type and wonder about its reliability??:uhoh:

Well, good thing then that you don't have to worry about that on your PS3.

The XL prototype first flew on February 29 2006 - there are 2 XL prototypes, 1 XLS prototype, and 1 XLS+ prototype.

In total there are 678 total XL's built - every single production aircraft delivered is still in service - and the world fleet has not suffered a single loss.

That is a record to be admired by any manufacturer.

Not having a dig (pprune's favorite) but the year must be incorrect... Otherwise lots of us have flying pre-prototype XL ;).

As for the safety record (and engine reliability) just as good as any other. Initial post not doing a favour to its "owner" :D

The casings are very prone to corrosion on the Excel around the BOV but other than that it's a strong engine, internals are the same family as the bravo encore as well as the excel.

Biggest problem with the 545 is operators chucking fuel filler caps down them :yuk:

Well I only know of the one (G-WCIN:ugh:)...Have there been others?

In the meantime could this engine issue have simply been simulated asymmetric for training?????

Amazing aeroplane with an outstanding safety record. May it long continue.
