I was just watching some flights on flight radar 24 and saw BA 239 has changed course and turned back towards shannon where it landed. I googled the flight and on boards.ie someone listening to atc online stated the flight made an emergency landing after smoke reported in cockpit or cabin.

BA239 London Heathrow - Boston

Hi
my daughter is on that flight and just called to report the emrgency landing. Passengers were only told that an engine was on fire. Please update us if you have further info. Worried...

Happened to be driving through East Clare last night and looking up through open sunroof, I saw BA 747 heading for EINN. All looked good from the ground but knew that a/c should not be there @ that time..That BA239 had incident last Nov 14 (??) Firecrew injured @ KBOS after attending fire in cabin after landing.

Apparently original aircraft still 'being investigated'. Shannon departures had BA239 carrying on to Boston at 0905 this a.m. - but still at Shannon at 1300 UK time. BA flight information makes it look like (in retrospect) BA239 was supposed to connect at Shannon but the onward flight was cancelled! Good old BA - try to make the best of the situation and then have it turn out worse!
Passenger I know on the flight rebooked on EI135 - probably a good call!
