I wonder if someone can help with this, which I received from a friend .....

...... she has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease - condition has deteriorated a lot since we last saw her in Dec, she has now lost her speech and is under medical care although there is no cure for this - because of the speech problem, she has to write down what she needs to communicate, very difficult and soon when the muscles fail, she can't do that.

There is a kind of machine like a laptop or smaller to write messages that they want to buy here, but we don't know what it is called.

Also where is best place to buy it? This is not a language translator which we saw a lot of in Hong Kong. Like texting on a cell phone when sending sms but she needs to use this permanently. Any ideas????

I suggested it was a voice synthesizer, such as Stephen Hawkings uses, but apparently not.

Hi, no it's not a voice synthesizer - more like a small texting electronic equipment - size of a big calculator but smaller than a net/notebook. Same method and principles as texting a sms on a cell phone. Don't know what it's called ???

Any ideas? I also suggested a 'tablet' but apparently it's not that either.

Try Possum (Possum (http://www.possum.co.uk)). If they cant help, they will know who can - they have provided electronic equipment to the disabled for over 40 years

That would seem to be exactly the type of equipment they need.

What a great name - Possum of course means 'I can' in Latin.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
