Hi all, what would be your choice for an FMS? I have used GNS/XLS (doorstop) FMZ 2000 (great) Collins, not sure of the model but in CL604 (over complicated) and various Universal's (very intuative). Only my opinions obviously but got to wondering what others experiences were.

I would rate Universals as n.1 (used the 1A, 1B,1D,1K and Junior) and the Collins (I know the FMC-3000 and 5000) second.

GNS-XL, XLS and Honeywell EPIC are crap IMO. Not at all intuitive, some functions simply nonexistant or non usuable...

The little mans FMC such as Garmin 400 are great too, would they have a keyboard instead of the knob that would be my first choice...

Interestingly enough, I seem to remember Columbia aircraft designing an FMS style alphanumeric keypad to interface with the Garmin 400/500 series GPS. It seemed pretty cool!
