I am from Africa as well, and I think it's very expensive...
Unless you have a schloarship tp begin your training, would advise to work very hard and train in south africa, or in Tunisia...the the 2 well known schools in Africa
There is 2 other schools in Morocco and Algeria, but I think prices are very expensive

Hope that helps.

Could you please give me the names of those flight schools? Also I'm considering going to a flight school before attending college - will it affect me in getting a flight job in Africa?

Here you go :
Tunisia : UNAT
Airline Flight Academy (http://www.afa.com.tn/en/presentation.asp)

South Africa :
South African Flight Training Academy - Residential flight training (http://www.safta.co.za/)

Algeria:
Aures Aviation Home (http://auresaviation.net/)

Morroco:
There is a flight school of Royal Air Maroc, there is no web site..I would say it's the best on in the region, because they have a high quality training...Maybe someone else would advise beter.

Hope that helps.
