Got offered a job on a business jet but with 50-60 hours a year, they will assist me with the economics to pay the TR and we will be only 2 FO.

Is it worth it?

Just look for yourself.

50-60 hours a year. Not really a lot but I don't know your financial situation. If it's ok I would take the job without a doubt.
If your financial situation is like a lot of us (paying interest of 800-1000 euro a month) and your making less than that with this job I would reject it.

But maybe you could work parttime somewhere else to cover this.


To summarize:
It's experience. Although it's not a lot it's better than staying home flying those 3 hours a year VFR.

You havent really told us much about the job. Is it paid per flying hour or salaried? are you aloud to fly for another operator at the same time? Are you on 24/7 standby? If its a small citation - is the operation officially 'multicrew' so you can log the hours or are you just a 'pilot assistant'? Do you have to move to some third world country somewhere? These are the questions I would be asking.

Without knowing your personal circumstances then its difficult to offer opinion. If it was me I would say no. But thats mainly because of my personal situation. With a wife, family etc, I wouldnt move country to take a job that was only offering 50 or 60 hours flying per year. Im sure it would apeal to some but for me i'd want to be getting the hours in and getting an ATPL. If the operator is paying for your TR then presumably you are being bonded for the rating? How longs the bond? If something better came up job wise during the bond period, what would you do? You might end up having to pay off the bond at 20 grand, and then have to pay for a TR(at another 20 grand) for the new job.

Maybe you could get extra freelance work on the Falcon during the downtime from the job. Depends if your boss is happy doing that of course.

Your question was 'is it worth it?' Nobody can really answer that im afraid. Its down to you and your individual circumstances.
