Well, we steam along with the installation of the new computer and today's problem is......

Apparently my printer (Canon MP500) is not compatible with the 'puter. I've got the original installation disks but it gets so far and then the 'puter tells me that it's not compatible with a 64 bit system (whatever that is). It would also appear that my A3 printer (Canon iX 5000) is also not on the "approved" list.

I really want to avoid getting a new printer/scanner if I can help it so how do I get around the problem - if at all???

Windows comes in two flavours - 32-bit & 64-bit, and you need to use the matching driver for hardware to work. Sounds like you're trying to install a 32-bit driver.

Your printers are definitely supported by Win7 64-bit so all you need to do is visit the Canon website & download the 64-bit driver for each printer.
