Did I see an Me109 over Duxford today? A fleeting glance from the M11.

No. It would be the Spanish Licence built type with a Merlin engine. Identical airframe, different engine, slightly different nose because of it. I think I might be right in saying that there are two there. It is a Casa112 Buchon.[think I have the desig. correct]

They weren't built by CASA, they were built by Hispano. The one that was flying at Duxford is a HA-1112-M1L Buchón.

Thanks for the replies. I am accustomed to Spitfire, Mustang and Cat fly pasts at Duxford (Cat trundling into the distance at a few hundred feet always reminds me that Cats were the only Allied aircraft capable of operating MAD off Gib, although surely a Sunderland would be equally good at trundling?)

Me109 was a surprise; fly past surprises are the best, BBMF Lanc has caught me unawares on at least a couple of occasions. also B17 that appears to be based at Duxford.
