JAA Class 1 Expiry / Renewal

Hello,

If I allow my JAA Class 1 to expire by 6 months(as I am out the country), am I able to simply renew it as I usually do every year with my AME doing the same examination as per usual?

OR will I have to go through an initial again (and if so at Gatwick?)

Your AME can do a renewal, so no need for a trip to Gatwick.
