I understand that Canada and the USA have recently dropped ASETPA.

Sources have implied that CASA is disenchanted with ASETPA also; but instead of dropping ASETPA in Australia, they are choosing to deliberately tighten the restrictions progressively until such time as operators 'choose' not to operate under ASETPA.

Where does this leave us? Old Twin Pistons again? Or Twin Turbines that are too expensive for the contracts and opportunities out there.

Initially I thought that CASA was going down this road to avoid a legal rebound from operators 'burnt' by a back-flip. It has since been pointed out that CASA could pull ASETPA any time they wish if they choose to cite 'Safety Reasons'.

There are entire business models in Australia based upon ASETPA. Even the RFDS will be clobbered. :ouch:

What gives? Any news welcome? :ugh:
