Hi guys!

I have read in other post that the conditions for Cargolux Italia werenīt good.
Less salary, less days off, less holidays... Could anyone be more precise on that?

Thx for the info!

My advice: stay far far away from the Italian outfit and only apply for the CLX LUX F/O position!

Contract? Either join the real thing (CLX LUX) or stay in your current job. About 50 off days less per year in MXP! Anyone wanting to join this outfit must be crazy, especially if you have CLX LUX as a alternative! Once you are in MXP, don't expect any possibility to transfer to the LUX contract as you'll have to undergo the normal CLX selections and join at the bottom of the seniority list. Save yourself a lot of time and join the CLX LUX seniority list right now by joining CLX LUX straight away! It will give you plenty of money and off days to live in MXP if that's what you want!

Job stability? CLX MXP has been operating with only one aircraft for a few years now while CargoItalia has been steadily catching up and taking back market share with 3 md11's. Apparently Lufthansa Cargo also wants to expand in MXP, so the easy ride for CLX MXP is over. Perhaps they will get additional aircrafts, perhaps not. Who knows! Who cares! At the same time, expansion rumors also go around for CLX LUX, so bet on safe and join CLX LUX, enjoy a decent salary and off days and the 74-8!

B744 type rating? Definitely don't do it for the type rating! A B744 type rating is pretty useless to use in your career because it's an aircraft that is typically being operated by majors. Major airlines will select and employ pilots regardless of their current type rating so a 744 rating will not be an advantage. On top of that, as the 74-8 is introduced, the 744 will end up where most 747-200 ended up: cowboy outfits in 3rd world countries. It's the 74-8 and/or maybe 777 you want to fly and have on your license and for that you need to join CLX LUX.

Bottom line: CLX MXP is a start-up with increasing competition. You'll be taking a big gamble, you'll be working on a lousy contract, you won't improve your job posibilities with a 744 type (ask ex-Oasis guys!) if the company stops operating and you will not get any shortcut to joining CLX LUX as CLX MXP is a different company.

Capice? :ok:

As you said CLX MXP contract is not so good....but better than many other italian contracts...trust me

I have seen some details of the Italian contract and must agree with CFM International.
The career advice by "Stupid Pilot" only shows that he has chosen a fitting name for his new pprune sign in.
You seem like a typical overpaid underworked FO who is just afraid that he can't continue his fat dumb and happy life on his little island in the middle of Europe. It would seem to me that all the challenges that you list your company faces in Italy, they must be rasorsharp to survive. I hope I get a chance to join one day and be part of the battle.
For a wannabe 747 pilot like me, this is an improvement and there is a lot more to the job than free days and payment that gives satisfaction.

But the contract for Pyongyang Air might be even worse than those bad Italian contracts! Is that a reason to suddenly think that those bad Italian contracts are good? That's very strange and irrational thinking! :ugh:

The fact is that something much better is out there: CLX LUX which will give you more money, more off days, able to live in anywhere in EU and a better long term career!

If somebody can not understand this then they are not able to pass any selection for a good airline anyway, because the above simple facts are much easier than those IQ tests! ;)

Sometimes life is really very simple and easy so I don't understand why some people make life much more difficult for themselves by signing up for such a bad deal when something much better is right next to it! Are you guys blind!??! :ugh:

@Anyone seriously considering Cargolux Italia:

Listen carefully to "stupid" copilot. In fact, he has given you some invaluable advise. No whining in the aftermath. You have been warned.

Oh- and by the way... When it comes to comparing Italian contracts: How many of them actually stipulate flying a 744 worldwide with (up to) 15 consecutive days away from home?

One should compare apples with apples, you know.

Good new user name you have!;)

I agree with CFM International. I have seen some details of the contract and it is better than most Italian contracts.
This could actually be an airline that stays in the air for a change.
I would actually really like to help them do it. Keeping fingers crossed.

Is the mother company hiring at all?

For what I know...CLX wants you to live in LUX or nearby...not anywhere in europe...and they want also a proof of that...am I wrong?

For what I know...CLX wants you to live in LUX or nearby...not anywhere in europe...and they want also a proof of that...am I wrong? With the extra money from CLX LUX you can easily pay for a little crash pad in LUX and have the extra days off and enjoy a better contract and live anywhere in EU.

I'm sorry to bother you and your intelligence...and once again I'm not interested in CLX LUX, and even more decise if that is the standard enviroment between colleagues. Is that a thread of CLX Italia? So what is your clue here?? Stay in your gold LUX and don't bother who is talking about or asking something about CLX Italia. We don't want your job, we are not fighting you...we just want to apply where the F..k we want...don't need advise or explanation. Anyone is the onwer of his choice, and if so, maybe will be sound strange to you but someone could be happy just working for the small crapy poor CLX Italia.

Capisci??

We don't want your job, we are not fighting you...we just want to apply where the F..k we want...don't need advise or explanation. What about the Italian contracts for Easyjet and Ryanair? Are they that bad as well? I seriously doubt it...

CFM International
28th Mar 2011, 15:58
FR doesn't has an italian contract...Easyjet has a good contract.
Last year I flew 870 hrs with 550 sectors, gaining around 41k € is that good for you? Finally, after years of flyng I'm still seasonal....So maybe CLX Italia is a little bit better, at least for me? considering also that I'm not working in my town, and I have almost no time to commute...In MXP I will stay at home. Home...less expense, more time.

Was not my decision to start a company named CLX ITALIA. And again not my decision that they want to hire now new pilots. so...fight with your colleagues, or with your boss, not me.

Those applying for the job know the conditions before they sign the contract (just like "the 6").
Nobody is forced to apply.
If those conditions are better then the ones you are having right now or if you want to change from short haul to long haul and live close to MXP then it makes sense to apply.
Ciao :)

Hello all!

Is it the same Interpersonal Application and interview/screening process for Cargolux Italia (than Cargolux Lux)? Or do they have an own application (send to where) and interview/screening system? Do they prefer mostly Italian pilots for these positions? If they have an own applying process/interview/tests, what kind are those? rgds. Waldo

Any guesses as to why they are not looking for Captains?
I for one would be interested, but only in the LHS.

Are you sure? cargo italia is net, meaning after tax. whatīs your source? where can we find the cargo italia t&cīs???

SyncPilot
18th Apr 2011, 13:49
there is some info on pilot jobs network about Cargo Italia, and I would love if CV Italia had that kind of t&c but sounds like it is minus the tax, as i have figured around 30-35% in Italia....so that is quite low for Cargolux Italia...:ugh:

The contract is a complete joke! :8

Word of advice to people considering this: don't compare the CV Italy contract to the average Italian airline flying around with ATR's, A320 or 737, this is not a correct comparison!

You need to compare it to any other professional EU based long haul cargo operator (Lufthansa Cargo, Martinair, Cargolux etc) and then you'll quickly find out how bad the deal really is. :{

No Hurz, the payschale shown for Cargoitalia on PilotJobs is not realistic expecially regarding the base with 40 hrs wich is much much lower than the one shown. That can be considered close to the gross amount.

The figures given for Cargoitalia are bull****, far away from the real numbers.

2nd May 2011, 08:33
Hi Guys,

Any chance to have more information about the real figures then?
What does the contract say about days off, leave, etc. etc....
Rosters?
No point in saying it's a terrible contract and that the figures are wrong if no details are given, don't you agree?

Best regards
