Wife,Me,two kids full airfare return(ex SYD) to HNL on QF....... $9500....Y/C
QF operates 3 times a week to HNL and the aircraft are full....both ways.
Something is seriously wrong if they cant make money on this route.
Then again something is seriously wrong with Qantas.
Clowns should grow the network not shrink it further

I heard from a mate in Darwin today that Qantas are pulling out of Sydney. Hard to believe I know. Must be something really wrong if Qantas can't make a profit from their primary hub. <insert criticism of jetstar here>

AJ has previously expressed some surprise that QF continue to do well on HNL flights. Given that there is often little difference between the QF fare and the J* fare on the route, and the fact that we are taking a chockers 767 over there all the time, imagine how much money we could make if we did it daily on something a bit bigger and more efficient- say like an A330? :ugh:

Keg, how dare you suggest that Qantas put an efficient aircraft on the route:p At least the 767s are in a better state than the 734s. TJE running around the countryside with APU broken, PACK INOP and a myriad of other problems - something about premium product?!:ouch::hmm:

You know maintenance is poor at QF doubt their are many aircraft in their fleet that have in sequence anti collision beacons:p

SkyScanner, I wonder if anyone will point out in passing to that senate inquiry that those busted 734s are what QF are using on routes in and out of CB as much as possible, and therefore are what parliamentarians mostly get around in? :E

Agent orange, you watch, queenstown will be next. Very very profitable but it's a "leisure" market. Just like gold coast is domestically. Don't worry about the affluence here guys, we can save a buck! Brainless. Virgin will be laughing their tits off! Maybe AJ and John Borgetti are secretly working together for virgin? Well I guess that'll be virgins next route with business class on the tripler then.

Fruet Mich, if Qantas pulls out of ZQN, it will lose my (fairly frequent) business completely.

Direct flights from ZQN to SYD or MEL will be on Air NZ, and anywhere beyond will be on a Star Alliance airline.

HNL to stay
767 replaced by Airbus A330
From groundstaff in HNL
Also from 767 Captain
Probably happen around May/June

I’d add that if QF flew to Denpasar, Ho Chi Minh and Nadi rather than JQ he’d be surprised as well.
Same with QF from CNS & OOL to Narita rather than JQ.
Give QF the equipment and he’d most likely go from ‘some surprise’ to shocked.

767 until October at least (due to recent network disruptions - original plan was only till June)

The maintenance is not poor at Qantas Engineering, it is everyone else who touches the aircraft that corrupt the product we deliver to Qantas.

British Airways does not even compare to Qantas, it took us years to bring up to scratch the ZX buckets

Spot on, mate! Instead of harping about off-shore maintenance, it would be much more profitable to liken QF to outfits such as BA in an unemotional yet objective manner.

Ken,

They've heard you:

In a cyclical industry, the setting of EPS targets each year for multi-year periods has presented considerable practical difficulties. As a result, the Board has decided to replace the EPS hurdle and instead measure the performance against its Airline Peer Group.
The Airline Peer Group will comprise the following basket of global listed airlines: Air France-KLM, Air New Zealand, AMR Corporation (American Airlines), British Airways, Cathay Pacifi c, Delta Northwest Airlines, Lufthansa, Ryanair, Singapore Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Tiger Airways and Virgin Blue.

Why though? As someone mentioned elsewhere, before Jetstar QF profit was growing therefore shareholder return was growing therefore the big wigs were doing their jobs.

Now the share price is in decline, there have been no dividends, therefore the big wigs are not doing their jobs?

I am confused at the motivation.
