Is it wise to go for type rating on 737, 320 or ATR72 at this point of time or wait for the normal vacancies for CPL holders?

Please share your views.

What country? South Asia and the Far East is damn big area?

If you are talking about India I think the days of no Type Rating and a job are gone for a while. By my admitedly rough estimate all the airlines in India together only have the ability to induct about 200 pilots a month in a maximum effort. (that includes sending pilots out of the country to train) They are not hiring close to that many a month right now. I believe that the supply of TR pilots exceeds the need. Sadly it looks like "pay to play" is going to be the only way in for a while.

I would suggest go for A320 Type Rating since not many people opt for it-as yet. Indigo, Go air and possibly later in the year-Kingfisher might be a viable option.:ok:

Boeing 737-800 (NG) has too many people typerated on it, with too many NOCs issued for the same. However on the bright side 737 jobs seem to be in the bucket loads.:ok:

ATR- Has no orders/deliveries from any indian airline for some time to come (I guess Kingfisher will get one later in the year). Not many jobs too. :=

I did my ATR rating six months ago and am still waiting for a response from any airline. :ugh::ugh::ugh:
Air India Regional came up with vacancies, but is usually all rigged. I wish I had done an A320/B737 Type Rating back then.:ugh:

@PEC

right now i am confused regarding the type rating thing...should i opt for 320 or should i go for 737??
both have its pros and cons

if i have a 320 type rating
Merits are
1)a very less number of people have the 320 endorsment

and te Demerit is that
1) there are only three airlines which have A320 aircraft i)indigo ii)Goair iii)Kingfisher
2)furthermore there are very less no of 320's compared to airlines which have 737's

while lookin for the same with 737 point of view
Merits
1) Large fleet of 737's(spicejet , jetairways, Airindia express)
2)Job Vaccenccies are still there on their website.

Demerits
2) There are too many ppl with the 737 endorsement compared to 320.

right now i am 70% with 737 and 30% with 320??dont kow why i still think 320 is the best option.......:ugh::ugh::ugh:

pilots who did their Type Rating before getting a job or are on a verge of getting one please share your views it is very precious for me right now!!!!

thank you

with A320 rating, we can only expect indigo at this point of time.

Because Goair has sufficient pilots and its a small airline expanding very slowly.

Kingfisher is taking their cadets as for now and got a lot of pilots, so they wont hire from market soon.

paramount will be leasing 3 A320 and 6 Q400, so they will need some pilots soon.

on the other hand with 737, seems to be better option as of now, but its future is not that bright with so many pilots rated on 737.

guys, i m 320 TR... and the jobs tht r coming are only arnd 20 - 30 vacancies...

the no of unemployed on 320 are more thn 100.... and arnd 200 more out training + 36 at CT abt to finish

737 their are 70-80 unemployed, as 100s got a job in jet n spice in the last few months...

these are facts based on people attending n applying for the exams..

take a wise gamble...

@planeboy777,

If you were to ask me, I would still suggest the A320, based on the fact that in the near future the deliveries of A320s will far exceed that of B737s.
