Virgin Blue flight in smoke scare | Herald Sun (http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/breaking-news/virgin-blue-flight-in-smoke-scare/story-e6frf7kf-1226011972609)
SIX people on a Virgin Blue flight have been checked by paramedics after their plane landed at Melbourne Airport with reports of smoke in the cabin.
Paramedic Steven Linham said the six people, who included cabin crew, were concerned about being exposed to smoke.
"Their clothing smelt of smoke but they weren't having any breathing problems," Mr Linham said.
"After they were fully assessed by paramedics they didn't need any further treatment so our crews cleared."
Virgin Blue media spokeswoman Fiona Sugden said a domestic flight from Brisbane to Melbourne had reports of smoke odours which were found to originate from an oven in the galley of the plane about 8am (AEDT).
"It (the smoke) was coming from the oven in the galley of the plane and the oven has been removed from the plane and it is being investigated," she said.
She confirmed Australian Federal Police were also investigating the incident.
"That's fairly standard procedure," she said.
"They should be concluded soon and the plane will be back up and running."
