My wifes grandfather lies buried in small British war cemetery on the D109 between Capelle and Beuadignies in France. He died on 4th No1918 after his battery (D battery 211th Brigade RFA) had helped shoot the New Zealanders into Le Quesnoy. The official histroy I've seen quotes air attacks in the vicinty of Beaudignies being of assistance As the Kiwis also bridged the river Selle with armour bearing bridges in less than a day whilst under constant harrassing fire it would seem that a fluid and rather hot little war was afoot. Does anyoine know which RAF squadrons were involved, I suspect that the Canadian assault that took Mons a few days later would be similarly supported. We will be visiting grandads grave in August and it would be nice to know the whole story.
