Hi Josh,

I believe the bits that could be reused were used on the 777 fleet. The cabin and cockpit were used as training aids for BA and any other material was presumably recycled.

There's not a lot left of the bird now.

@champair79

Reference G-YMMM I can assure you that there were NO parts at all used on any other BA aircraft, and further more never will be!
A database was made of all parts fitted on that a/c at the time of the incident to ensure that if ever a component was bought in from an outside supplier it would not be installed on a BA a/c.
It is correct that some parts were used for the simulators but these components are marked accordingly. No simlator components are used on line a/c.:8

No simulator components are used on line a/c.Since when? Aircraft components used on simulators (dependent upon local regulatory regulations) are regularly cycled through the workshops and end up back on aircraft.

Is this a superstition thing or what?

Its a requirement of JAR-145 and a CAA AwN whose number I can't quite recall offhand.

Were all the parts used for simulators, or were some just thrown away, or were they sold off to people as 'souvenirs'

thanks,
Josh
