I have noticed an AeroLogic 777 arriving at CVG in the U.S. For DHL. I have not been able to find the flight info on Flight Aware etc. Can someone tell me what AeroLogic uses for an ATC call sign?

Thanks!

def not it's BOX... esp to CVG which is a DHL Hub. Think occasionally they fly for LH cargo so might be German Cargo calls signs

I think the two of you are getting confused here.

The ICAO code is BOX - as used for flight planning purposes and which will show up on flight tracking programmes, flightradar24 and the like.

Any printed schedules will be prefixed with 3S.

I can personally attest that their r/t callsign as used in communication with ATC is German Cargo. Any flights done for LH Cargo would presumably use their r/t callsign of Lufthansa Cargo.

A similar analogy is BA

ICAO BAW
IATA BA
R/T callsign Speedbird

Slightly off thread...

What happened to the callsign " nitro " ?

all correct what Flightwatch said except for the fact that all flights including LHC flights have the "German Cargo" Callsign.

Cheers

Hi everybody,

Aerologic:
ICAO Radio Callsign: German Cargo
ICAO 3 letter code: BOX

Lufthansa Cargo:
ICAO Radio Callsign: Lufthansa Cargo
ICAO 3 letter code: GEC

Overun,

"NITRO" was the callsign of the TNT flights under the Air Foyle AOC.
Since the transfer to TNTs own AOC the callsign is the awful "Qualitay", the 3 letter code is TAY.

I always thought "NITRO" was one of the most apt callsigns ever.

Our callsign is "Eurotramp", sorry "Eurotrans".

Radarix is right. Callsign is German Cargo and Lufthansa or Lufthansa Cargo for Lufthansa Cargo.
BTW Lufthansa Cargo used to be German Cargo until 1993

lf l remember correctly the first call of " quality " was in Feb/Mar of 2001.

Met with gales of laughter at the time on radio.

The callsign " Nitro " was dynamite, the rumour was it was sold off, after the new name lottery was won by the wife of a Belgian boss.

Thanks Roger.

But.

Where has it gone ?

IATA: 3S
ICAO: BOX

Days 1 thru 5 they operate DHL routes, days 6 & 7 they operate for Lufthansa...

Joint venture remember...

"German Cargo" unless its Saturday or Sunday...

:ok:

And even on Saturdays or Sundays the call sign remains the same: "German Cargo"

..so whats the problem then:

18 posts for just a callsign question........interesting

callsign is German Cargo.
of course you can always use instead your icao flight-plan designator if you like which is spelled
Bravo
Oscar
X-ray then - and should not only just BOX

like. e.g.
Bravo
Alpha
Whiskey

or
Speedbird

I also think so.
