Hey guys any idea on why Emirates started using 777 instead of A340 on BKK-SYD-CHC route? Is it because of passenger demands or technical reasons?
Just curious.

We've only been using the 777 on the BKK-SYD-CHC route. Never the 340.
EK have now changed the DXB-BNE to the 777 and onwards to AKL if that's what you are thinking.

I thought Australia was entirely 777 ops now?

CHC was originally served with the A345 operating DXB-MEL-CHC-MEL-DXB then the CHC flights were transferred to SYD. Changed to the big trippler when the A380 was introduced to operate to DXB-SYD-AKL-SYD-DXB iso DXB-BKK-SYD-AKL and return - same time CHC was changed to operate DXB-BKK-SYD-CHC and return

345s taken off AUS (and all ULH ops) basically because operationally and economically they dont stack up against the 777

IIRC the changeover took place about when the A380 started going to NZAA. Before the flight was EK412/413 A345 (and before that A343) OMDB-YSSY-NZCH return, these days EK418/419 B773 OMDB-VTBS-YSSY-NZCH return.
