How do u guys think is the best way to pass all the atpl exam 1st time and the cpl and ir first time...and what are the airlines looking for?????

Hi, i don't think there is a best way to pass the atpl exams (each to his own) but the first step is to select an approved ground school provider (i went with Bristol). Then learn your work, do the progress tests, go through the database once (have not done this for mod2 which i'm sitting in Feb) attend brush up and do all the work they set. This worked for me one mod1 although my personal experience was that going through the QB before the brush up was a waste of time and money as you get all of them at brush up.

Cpl - IR - I'm not there yet but i guess the first step is to find a good school with a high pass rate (really impressed with Bonus, Stapleford CTC and Oxford right now)

The airlines look at WHERE you did your flight training. They also look at a first time pass in the IR. The school is very important, it is a stepping stone to your future. That said, there are many airlines hiring outside the big schools but the pass rate is also there after.

Re.: The ATPLs: You are only required to pass. You grades are not that important, they will not be shown to your employer during the interview. However on a personal note: lower grades normally indicate that you might have problems down the road - Like passing a TR + Tech and getting through LT without any hiccups.

If you were on the other side of the table WHO would you hire???
***A nice guy, with reasonable knowledge, good hand eye coordination (good flying skills), a person that is ready to take on the challenges and the responsibility with his/her new job.

i have done and passed nine of them exams did 5 of them this week hopefully will pass them.... i was just wondering , because you hear some people really talking about it that the airlines are looking for the perfect score and all that but ... BEING THE SMARTEST GUY DOESNT MAKE YOU THE BEST PILOT... i dont think anyway... im looking at doing my cpl and ir in flying time aviation they seem to be good in the comercial bit.... and just looking forward to 2 weeks to see if them last 5 results will be good...

Airlines are looking for someone they can sit beside for 10 hours. Someone that is trainable. And possibly with some of them, someone willing to pay for a TR. Forget about the willy measuring outside the exam hall at Gatwick, just get the exams passed as best you can, put every effort you can into the CPL and especially the IR. If you do elect to try for the airlines after the IR, take the MCC seriously. It's not essentially a pass or fail thing, I had a sim partner for the MCC who put no effort into learning calls, understanding CRM, or even trying to make the transition from a single pilot operation to a multi crew operation. It made the whole course very cumbersome.
