View Full Version : Where are you from?

This really is an amazing forum - I can't believe how much useful information I have gleaned!

One thing I was wondering though - where are you all living at the moment?

Also if you have one word of advice for someone just starting out what would you say?

Cheers! and keep up the top banter!

Oh by the way I'm from Northumberland but living in London (posh Geordie!) and counting the days till I start my course in 2003...

Based Northants/Bucks.

Couldn't trim my advice down to one word but here's a few things that have helped me:

Do as much reading and background study before you start your course - it will help you more than you know. The amount of work ahead is huge and a head start can make all the difference.

Don't waste your hours building flying straight and level to the same old places. Make a plan to a visit a different airfield each trip, use the nav aids and practice, practice, practice.

Hope this helps and good luck!

I actually live in Shifnal. Used to live in Bridgnorth previously and near to the Airfield (Claverley) when I was a nipper.

Me thinks you have checked my profile and having confirmed from my mail address that my name is Matt jumped to conclusions. But you would be wrong.

I think we both might fly with the same club however?

I live just in North Wales close to the Shropshire border. I fly helicopters at Halfpenny Green (forget this WBA rubbish!), and f/w aircraft at Sleap - seem to be quite a few of us flying from the same airfields.

One piece of advice? I agree with Capt. Kangaroo: hit the books! "Do as much reading and background study before you start your course - it will help you more than you know". Watch out for PPrune addiction eating away at the study time....

CommanderBlonde,

My husband is a pilot currently training in Brunei for JMC, to be based out of Manchester. It has taken since May 1996 for him to get to the job he wants. If you would like some inspiration please check out his 'story'. It was a previous posting and received quite a number of very positive responses.

As the support for someone who has trained from previously being in I.T. It has taken absolute dedication, commitment and believing that is what you want. Nothing else matters and NEVER GIVE UP.

Good Luck
