Low-time Pilot looks for advice

Hi, I got my CPL and IR in 2009 with 230h FT, and 75000 dollars of debts. English is second language and i don't think CFI is gonna work for me, i don't think flight schools will hire me if pass the test and i get my certificate because of my English. What do i need to do to get job in aviation industry because right now I'm driving cab for living and to pay my debts.

I'd stick with a job that pays steady for the time being, and get rid of that debt. There are too many cases of pilots out there in similar situations to yours, stuck in slow-mo for years! Have you tried being a part-time flight instructor AND part-time cabbie? That's a full-time gig AND you're clocking up more hours AND getting paid. Gotta better than not getting paid. Good luck!

Sorry to say but if you are going to work commercially in the aviation industry you are going to have to improve your english if that is weak.

Several incidents involving poorly spoken or poorly understood instructions over the past few years have led the authorities to clamp down on RT discipline and standard english by introducing the language level proficiency at ATPL level.

As someone who speaks more than one language I can understand the difficulties but I would suggest that you continue with your day job, pay off the debt and improve your spoken english. It will assist you greatly in the future and open up your choice of employer.

I have no problem on communicating but i believe there not good for teaching and explaining ground lessons.

I would reckon that your best chance would be to go and get a bush pilots job. Start networking and applying for as many positions as you can find. Be aware that these guys are required to do a lot of things in addition to flying and the wages are low, probably no better than driving a cab but at least you will be making use of your 'investment'.

Can you explain a bit what's a bush pilot's job? Like w crops? Where can I apply for those jobs?

Bush pilots fly charter in places like South Africa (Game reserves), Australia, US(piston charter), Canada (floats) generally on light piston twins, sometimes bigger turbo prop aircraft like King Air, Caravan etc.

Try a company called Hevilift in Australia, they are looking for pilots to go remote out in Papua New Guinea, I flew there for a while, was great fun... ps they still have cannibals.

I instructed, did bush flying (light piston twin) charter, game reserves in SA and Botswana, flew the mail, bank runs at night on metro's in Australia to work my way up. I thoroughly loved it. Pay was crap, but they usually pay for accomodation and food and I travelled the world.

Definetly improve your english if it is a problem. All the best to you though:ok:

Another thing, if you are looking for bush jobs outside of the US, look on an Australian site called AFAP (Australian Federation of Airline Pilots) or PCC pilot career centre... search by region or type around the world to see the criteria and requirements.

Southern Africa is great for that type of stuff and an experience you will never forget.:ok:

For Australia you'll need a visa/permanent right of abode etc.

The competition for "bush" jobs is usually pretty fierce but I believe not so many people are training these days making it marginally easier to get your first job in the bush.
