Happy new year everyone! Its that time of the year for the infamous who handles who thread.

Does anybody have any news on contract changes? renewals? etc

It would also be great to have an update on the current situation at each station.

I for one haven't got a clue, so your valuable input would be appreciated :)

hi All,
need help, i am doing some studying about ramp operation, and as part of my exam I have to present a coursework, this has raised some question, how many ground staff do I need ?

I have some station where all ground handling is outsourced and others where I only have 1 station manager and a small passenger service team.
The airline fleet is 737/A320/A330s.
Many thanks in advance.

it looks to me that servisair want rid of contracts and staff so they can tender at a later date for the contracts under smart handling by servisair?
therefore paying less wages and worse terms and conditions at a later date. dont you just love those people in the ivory towers?

Why is Emirates split between ASIG & dnata ?

Aren't Emirates and dnata all part of the same group, surely it would make sense for Emirates to be handled by their own handling agent ?

EKA380LHR
12th Dec 2011, 20:38
Long story cut short -

EK used to be handled by UA then they got rid of their contracts and EK went to SK, SK then got bought out last year by ASIG. In the meantime PlaneHandling (who didn't have a pax handling dpt) bought Aviance and they where both purchased by dnata (who have been trying to get into LHR ever since I've been dealing with EK).

I'm sure at somepoint the whole thing will go over to dnata. ASIG couldn't handle the EK ramp without quite a bit of investment in more ramp equiptment. But it works quite well at the moment split between the two company's. EK is Centralised Load Control too which makes things even more easy!!

It is currently handled by Bmi. However after Bmi pulled out in March and WW flights dropping like a flies. The Daily EK plus the remaining few WW flight and CPH flight is really the only thing they are handling..
