Back in 2005 ,2006,2007,2008

All you needed was a an Indian CPL to apply for a co-pilot's position

Now they all ask for type ratings :mad:

Even if I had 5000 hours of Jet or turboprop those hours would still be useless because you do not have a type rating on their type :{

Consider yourself fortunate Cyril,

Because Aviation was never a right seat Jet FO for low time CPL. This was never never the case anywhere in the world when we started flying in 2004. The trend was build hours and get an airline job.

But, things change and they do dramatically. As they say, with times we move on so we don't lag behind the rest. Trend here is, hiring CPL holders Right Seat - till 2008.

Now with 11,000 Official License Holders, I cannot see all 11,000 getting hired. It is completely implausible rather impractical.

And with DGCA Giving odd marks, which is really inexplicable a situation unless we force them to give an answer out, things will only get farther out your reach. I heard VP Singh Is back - Just for a month - so you see - Politics has its way into aviation. You go for a hiatus and you come back when everything is settled down ....

How is the type rating endorsed in India? ATR as a common type? ATR 42-320 ATR 42 non PEC?

As I would doubt that there are any Indian co-pilots that don't already work for Alliance Air that have the 42 non PEC type.

All other airlines in Indian operate 500 series or PEC.

In India from what i heard :rolleyes:

ATR 42 is a separate type rating from ATR 72

Someone qualified on the ATR 72 is not eligible to fly as
co-pilot on the ATR42 :ugh:

Dont know if any differences course exist though

This position was already known to the people with right connections long before the positions was advertised :E

Since Alliance Air is a govt company the post has to be advertised .

The people with right connections have already begun their or is about to complete their ATR42 type rating :E

Yes a differences course exists, in most of the world it is a common type rating though.

The aircraft Alliance Air have are really old dogs! Much better going to fly ATR at KFA or Jet Airways.

Judging by the same questions on two different posts on this page,I can see where your priorities are.
If you are holding out for a great salary to begin with,you are in for a disappointment. Aviation is about paying your dues and climbing the ladder.Don't expect to make big bucks right off the bat so that you can pay down your enormous debt,which, I might add, you incurred on your own free will to buy a type rating.
If you think you have the qualifications, get in there,join the scrum, negotiate a salary and get to work.
