View Full Version : Suscpicious about Indian DGCA air regs exam result

Was my first attempt at Air regs in november

Didnt make it unfortunately :{

Got 61/100 :(

My suscpision is that the exam had 50 questions

Each question was worth 2 marks each . Therefore the total marks for the exam is 50*2=100 . The pass mark is min 70/100

Since it is an OMR sheet for each question you either receive 2 marks for the right answer or 0 marks for the wrong

If had gotten 20 questions wrong . That means i would have gotten
( 20*2=40 ) 100-40 = 60

If i had gotten 19 questions wrong , that means would have gotten
( 19*2=38 ) 100-38 = 62

Anyone care to explain how i managed to obtain 61/100 :confused:

Maybe you only marked half the box , hence half the mark

I assure you i double checked my markings and its circle shaped anyway not square :hmm:

However if i had marked only half that would have disqualified that answer and i would have received 0 marks

I'm in the same issue. Dont know how I scored an odd 39 when I was pretty sure to clear it with the most obvious answers.

Not all questions are 2 marks each, some are 1, some 2 and some 3 marks each. So there you go, you can do the permutation and combination and I am sure you can come up with some sensible number of questions that you got right that equates to 61 marks.

Good luck next time.

@Desipilot

In this times attempt the marking scheme was totally different

It was clearly mentioned in the question paper that there was 50 marks and each question was 2 marks each
Before attempting the paper i calculated that i have to get 16 or more questions wrong to fail (16*2=32) 100-32=68 . Hence i am quite sure that each question was 2 marks each

In the nav attempt there were 100 questions and each question was 1 mark each

Does anybody know if there is anything i can do about this ? :ugh:

@ cyril, i suggest you to write this question in RTI, and see what you get, (the official reply).

Cheers mate, see you in next attempt. :{

I'm in the same situation as Cyril. Got 53, which is an impossible mark seeing that each question carried 2 marks. Now I'm trying to get my answer sheet re-evaluated before Jan 10th, which is the deadline to apply for the next attempt. I so don't want to do the exam again

@Sam8808

Check PM

You are eligible to give the dec special session for regs .

However the special session only takes place in delhi and should be the same location specified in the application form

They will however only take enough applicants as they can fit in the CEO office in RK puram . So send an application as soon as possible

@cyril,The last date to apply is dec 1 for special exam,can we still apply?

cyrilroy21
29th Dec 2010, 15:09
I assume can still apply since the scheduled date has been postponed .

The previous dates were based on if the exams had taken place on its original date i.e oct24

Since the exam was postponed by one month the special session has also been postponed by one month

More over you have to know which subject you failed in order
to apply anyway :{

I suggest you send them an application and try your luck :ok:

Remember the exam takes place only in delhi and no other location

I called up the DGCA CEO office today...

I talked to Mr. Manoj Bajpai . He works at the CEO office .

I explained to him the situation and he patiently listened and gave me an answer...

He told me that after the exams they decided to
delete a few questions... :eek:
Hence it was not possible to allot 2 marks to each and every question since then they wont total 100 marks :hmm: :rolleyes: :ugh:

They then had to allot arbitrary marks to the remaining questions so that it would total 100 and thats how i managed to obtain an odd number as result

He told me that from the next attempt onwards all these issues will be sorted out .

I didnt bother to question or argue with him as to why they did this...

However he was quite polite and patient in his reply...

If anyone else would like to call him and discuss the same or would like to give him a nice blasting :E
You can call him on
26193706
He's not available between 1-3 pm in the afternoon

Dont forget to add the delhi code if you are calling from outside delhi...

Well back to the books again... :(

I got a short and sweet reply for it,

"The CEO receives objections raised by the candidates during examination and the same are evaluated by a team of experts. if the objections are valid then appropriate weightage is taken care by the computerized scanning system, which results in odd or even integer of marks depending upon the fractional weightage "

which pretty much resembles you i guess, cyril.

how was long your preparation and what material did you consult?

So what's the deal with this new "complete" results list for the Oct 2010 session? Serial number ends at 4363 this time rather than 3952 last time. They decided to fail 411 more people I guess. For a moment there I thought DGCA had actually decided to be fair and give us our real marks. Back to the books.....

complete results are with ATPL oral..
please just dont write ANYTHING

sam8808

Phul_tempo, you need to know that there are some of us who have been trying to get our air regs paper re-evaluated because our marks are clearly wrong. And DGCA very conveniently make up reasons when we try and contact them about it. You call that fair? Heck this whole thread is on the same topic. Please don't just post ANYTHING without knowing whats going on.

The study material that I recieved from another pilot is obsolete (all 500 possible questions). They have changed every question on the test. Does anyone recommend a prep course in Delhi?
